Hey everyone, it's been a mad few days at Fretbuzz HQ, I'm having a makeover on the workshed and it's thrown me into disaray 🤯 and as expected the phones ringing off the hook, so by the end of the week I'm going to be very busy indeed, just how I like it 😁 Anyway, enough about me, here's a setup on a Levinson Blade, really reminiscent of the 80s MIJ Squier Strats with that awesome slimline neck, that makes sausage fingered players feel like they're Jimi Hendrix (me included)
This guitar had a really odd warped neck, the upbow started at the 6th fret and seemed to also have back bow from the 3rd fret, apparently it had been kept in a really humid room, and luckily was brought to me before any serious damage occurred.
Once I straightened out the neck after removing the string tension, it was easier to get the right amount of relief with the new set of strings. The intonation is perfect and we've got a medium action to avoid any unwanted Fretbuzz or rattle, which is common on a 9.5 radius that's too low.
Next up...wiring in a new hotrail humbucker into this really nice and light basswood custom built Lawson Strat. The wiring was atrocious in this, but the owner assured me he got a good deal, so it's not much work to swap out the cheap stuff, shield the cavity and further improve it, should he want to do that. I had no choice but to replace a few wires, liking the power it's got now! Pics below -
