IT'S FINISHEDDDD! Really enjoyed working on this BC Rich Warlock, and the challenge of getting it to not only look like an ultimate Heavy Metal beast, but to play and sound like it's the 1980s and you've just got a perm and bought your first set of spandex.
I started off by completely gutting everything from the guitar, sanding back all the original finish, and slowly layering up with Matt black then sanding between coats and finishing with coats of nitrocellulose and wet sanding it back to a nice satin feel.
The next job was to start giving the fretboard and fretwork a thorough clean by soaking the board in lemon oil. There was also a few high frets which needing some work before polishing them to a mirror shine for smooth playability.
I scatter wound some Zebra Pickups with 42awg and they've come out really crunchy sounding, really happy with them.
Next was routing holes and adjusting the wiring to house a Vintage Hollis preamp.
Then came the 5 HOURS OF CUTTING A STEEL PICKGUARD! I was shouting then, but it really was a challenge cutting this shape and filing and sanding for so long, but definitely worth it.
Setup time! A really cool, very playable one-off custom Guitar, ready to go full blown Dimebag...it even Van Halen(s)
