This fantastic all original '60s Gibson Melody Maker visited the Fretbuzz Workshed for a spa day!
The pots and jack output had oxidised and needed a good blast of contact cleaner. I've also reseated a couple of frets before heavily conditioning the fretboard and polishing the frets. The only new addition to this guitar was a Mojoparts replacement wraparound bridge, which has a compensated intonation needed for modern day strings. The original bridges were set slightly different to compensate for a 'wound' 4th string.
The final setup was with Ernie Ball Primo 9.5" Slinky's. I've set the neck relief at 0.12" at the 5th fret with a low to mid action height at 1.60mm on the bottom 12th fret and 1.52mm at the top.
